Fish Tacos

So last week I went to San Diego for the week and I developed a love for fish tacos. Hadn't been a fan but they were so good!

I think this was my favorite place although they are a chain. The shrimp tacos were the best!

Ice Cream

In case anyone didn't see this on SF Gate today. This had a bunch of places for ice cream. Thought it definitely needed to make it on here.

Dynamo Donut

I read about this place in Ready Made. It was really good. I had a candied orange blossom donut.

Humphry Slocombe

So I thought that Fenton's and Bi-Rite were running neck and neck but I think I just found the place that might beat both. This place was great. I had a scoop of chocolate and a scoop of creme fraiche with fluff and it was so good! It is in a fun neighborhood too.

El Farolito

So I saw this place on my way home from work and way to work in the morning for five years and always thought, I should go in there. Anyway, a few of us went for ice cream (see humphry slocum post) and thought we should eat some real food to balance out the ice cream and stopped at the 24th/mission farolito. i think i am a tostada fan now. it was the perfect size, not gigantic like a burrito but plenty filling. my only regret was not getting horchata. anyway, this place gets a thumbs up.

Kara's Cupcakes

All I can say is banana caramel cupcake. So I am an absolute fan of miette but the banana caramel was so good.

Waffle House

Ok so I promise this is the last catch up post.  So on the aforementioned Colorado trip I had Waffle House for a last meal.  It is so sad we don't have Waffle House in California.  Anyway, just a plug for chocolate chip waffles.

Tajine Alami

So a month or so ago I got to go to Colorado Springs and we managed to find a Moroccan Restaurant.  It was great.  They have four and six course dinners (i recommend the six course because the four course felt more like two because the bread counted as a course) and I regretted not trying the bastella but oh well.  They even had belly dancing.  The baklava was great which is always important.

Nassau Fish Fry

So on my aforementioned vacation I visited Nassau and our tourguide talked up two spots for eating.  One was this hotel and the other was a fish fry place. So we went to the hotel and they weren't serving dinner yet so we walked (see photo) over to the fish fry and it was closed. So we decided to check out the other fish fry places. We ended up choosing Old Andros.  It was soooo good. I had grouper, macaroni and some version of dirty rice (red beans and rice).  The macaroni was lasagne style with cayenne pepper or something but it was great.  Anyway if you ever find yourself in Nassau hit the fish fry places.

Jestine's Kitchen

So I have really been slacking. In February I went on vacation and was in Charleston for a few hours and went to Jestines.  It seems like it is the place to go in Charleston, it was packed. It was great though. I had a shrimp po'boy and cobbler. The cornbread was so good too.   It is right on King Street not far from the Customs House and the port.  Yummy!!!

Ben's Chili Bowl

So it has been way too long since I posted anything on here.  I have been wanting to go to Ben's forever and I finally made it there and it was awesome.  I had a chili dog and red velvet cake.  It is definitely one of my favorite spots now. It is great because it isn't in the touristy part of town.  There are some great photos on the walls and if you are lucky you might catch the President and Mayor Fenty there...... you never know.  http://www.benschilibowl.com/ordereze/default.aspx
